Dealing with the Roots – Finding Healing That Lasts

Being involved with horses brings many joys and blessings. Yet some aspects of horse care are far from glamorous—like poo-picking! But another essential task, especially at this time of year, is pasture management.

Horse owners are always on the lookout for ragwort. In its early stages, it can be identified by its distinctive rosette-shaped leaves. Later, it develops into a tall plant with bright yellow flowers and a deep, extensive root system. A single ragwort plant can produce thousands of seeds.

Although ragwort has a bitter taste when fresh, once it has dried—particularly during hot weather—it becomes surprisingly sweet and may be eaten by horses if grazing is scarce.

The consequences are devastating. Ragwort causes irreversible liver damage, and for horses, it can be fatal.

That is why removing ragwort is such an important, life-saving task. The best way to remove it is with a specialist ragwort fork, which enables the entire root to be lifted out. Simply pulling off the visible plant is not enough. Unless the roots are removed, it will grow back. It is also vital to remove the plant before it flowers and sheds its seeds.

Our spiritual lives can be very similar.

We may recognise unhealthy habits, painful experiences, unforgiveness, fear, or other "weeds" in our lives. We may deal with the symptoms for a while, but unless the deeper roots are addressed, those same struggles often return. Left unchecked, they can affect our emotions, our relationship with God, our relationships with others, and even our physical and mental wellbeing.

Dealing With The Roots is a course designed to help address the deeper causes of our spiritual struggles. Throughout the day, you’ll receive practical, biblical teaching on some of the tools God gives us for lasting freedom and healing. There will also be opportunities to receive personal prayer ministry from members of the Living Bridge Prayer Ministry Team.

If you’re longing for more than temporary solutions and want to experience the healing that comes from dealing with the roots, we’d love you to join us.
